This morning, I wrote the first chapter of my novel. The setting is the Good Luck Club at the Trocadero Tropicana Hotel and Casino in San Francisco. The cast of characters includes William Randolph Hearst IV, the editor-in-chief of the San Francisco Times, Henry Denton, the bon vivant of the City by the Bay, and Jimmy the Yip, a Japanese whale wearing black-tie. The finale features Happy Darling doing a striptease.
