The Girl You Lost to Cocaine

While I was sleeping, my friend Melissa sent me an email entitled "is this...?" and a link to this, a Susannah Muxtape. "I hope that music is yours," she wrote. I didn't make it, and I don't know who did, but I had a strong reaction to it, and I am listening to it. Now, I have to go to work for 12 hours, but I'll be thinking about my novel while I do it. The next part I'm going to write is about Porn Valley. The place. Have you ever been there? I go there in my mind every day. Today, I will be there while I do this other thing I have to do, as I shuck and jive, as I bow so low my face touches the ground, so that no one ever sees me.
He gave me a silver ring
But I turned away
And he heard me say,
"Oh, he doesn't, he doesn't understand
I don't need riches to make me care;
Just a ribbon for my hair..."
