Fashion photographer Steven Meisel has created another provocative spread, "Make Love, Not War," for the September issue of Vogue Italy. Previous sets include "Super Mods Enter Rehab," in which starlets flash gash, "State of Emergency," depicting TSA terror-porn, and "Makeover Madness," featuring the horrors of plastic surgery. His latest work has provoked debate over his coupling of war and sex.
[I]nstead of what looks like a gangbang waiting to happen wouldn't it have been more brave to photograph the girls and the clothes around a set of injured GIs? blood. shrapnel. crumbling concrete. weapons. a sense of dread. or better yet right in the middle of a firefight -- RPGs streaming thru the frame as the girls stand resolute in their floor-length valentino.
