The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has an interesting story about Seattle-based rollergirl posse Rat City Rollergirls squaring off against uber-chain Starbucks in a logo dispute.
Starbucks says the RCR logo you see here, starring a pin-up style rollergirl with a black-eye and nice boobs, is a bit too much like the iconic Starbucks logo. The rollergirls have been using the logo since '04, but now Starbucks is requesting the RCR logo be changed.
"'The Starbucks lawyer said that the girls on the roller derby team look scary, and she didn't think, in her own personal opinion, (that) Starbucks would want to associate themselves with the scary characters of Rat City Rollergirls,' [the team's lawyer Quinn] Heraty said. 'I just thought it was funny.'"
Starbucks has until July to issue a formal complaint.
