DC

DC, you are one cold ass bitch. So far, the highlight was meeting this big boy. He is huge. And he is big. He is sitting in the corner. If he was standing up? I don't know. Maybe he would be 12 feet tall? But the big thing is that he is really beautiful. In person. You kind of have to see him to get it. His facial expression is ... explosive. His bald head is as big as the world. He is delightful to behold. For some reason, when I was in this room, there was like me and five other people and all the other people were men. I was looking at him by myself, and I would sort of move around, and what you can't see here is that -- well, he's anatomically correct. His testicles sit on the floor like a three-pound sack of flower. And he's uncircumcised, in case you were wondering. Anyway, I guess I was pretty interested in him, because when I was looking at him, I accidentally crossed the do-not-cross line, and then some huge alarm went off, like WAH-WAH-WAH or BONG-BONG-BONG or I can't remember, and then everyone turned around and looked at me and "Untitled (Big Man)."

Venus in Video

I found this amazing video at my pal's Indie Nudes. It's called "Headache," the artist is Aneta Grzeszykowska, and it's on view in Vienna. I love it.

The Art of Anthony Ventura

Artist Anthony Ventura is a friend of mine, and he dropped me a note recently to let me know that some of his amazing prints are now available for purchase online for the first time. I first met Anth several years ago, online, and for a time we worked on a project together. It was called The Fetish Alphabet. I'd create flash fictions about strange fetishes--for example, the jaw-droppingly awesome panel you see here was for a short entitled "A Is for Anthropophagy"--and he'd create the art. It was a wonderful thing. Now, he's made available a limited edition series of a select number of his works, including some from the fetish series, through Sexy Art Gallery in London. "The majority of images for sale have never been available for purchase, and I am only doing a very limited run of each image," Anth writes. "When they're gone, they're gone." Kentucky Fried Woman is one of my favorites. Other standouts include the wonderfully freaky B Is for Bukkake, the King Kong-esque O Is for Octopus, and the super-cool Major H. You can also visit Anth's website or check out his blog. And support an artist today, because underneath the clothes, we're all mutants.

Clayton Cubitt Exposed

My friend/photographer Clayton Cubitt is debuting some new work in a group show that opens this week. They're his decay prints, which, he reports, have been "six months in the destroying," and they'll be on view at the swanky Tribeca Grand as part of "This Eclectic Explosion." The opening night reception is this Thursday, the 24th, and starts at 7PM. Siege says: "Plus there’ll be beautiful drunk people and free booze, which means drunken hook-ups in the bathroom, even if you’re ugly."
"The more recent work, the personal and the fashion work," he reveals, "where I'm literally degrading the quality of the image—injuring it, damaging it—is a result of Hurricane Katrina, what it's done with New Orleans, and what it's done with my family. It's that notion of beauty—not in spite of decay, but because of decay. It becomes so horribly beautiful that you can't look away." -- Siege, JPG

Crude But Effective

My old pal Hugh McLeod, who created the image you see here, sent me a shout out on Twitter: "Hurrah! My favorite pornographer is blogging again." Well, Hugh, it has been a couple years now. ;) Yesterday, I saw this card that he created, and I liked it a lot, so there you have it: electronic synchronicity or something like it. I like Hugh's blog because he always returns to the subject of creativity, and how to do what you want to do, and how to do what you want to do and survive at it: "It just kinda sorta happened, one random event at a time." It's a struggle, a real battle, to be a creative type: whether you're a writer, or a thinker, or a photographer. E. L. Doctorow: "Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia." Somebody who is related to my novel sent me a letter, and he included a note in it, and the note is written on very beautiful paper with his name embossed beautifully on it near the top in that way where if you run your finger across it you can feel the letters, and the paper is in the shape of a bright white rectangle, or, say, a tiny, shining gravestone, and the note reads: "Can't wait to read the rest! Here's to a ton of success in the future!" I took the other piece of paper in the envelope and tacked it to my bulletin board between two photographs: this one and this one. And I took the note, and I propped it up on my desk, so it would be right there, every time I sat down to write. So. So! So? Now it's time to write.

Trend Update: Tribooblets

Artist and Reverse Cowgirl reader Sebastian Burton writes in to say that my claim yesterday that having multiple mammaries is the next big thing is, in fact, dated. Back in March, Sebastian called it first.

"As they say in Texas; bigger is better. Most people would say so especially when it comes to titties. I say upping your cup size is so last century. Women should take a cue from Total Recall and go not for bigger, but for more and maybe have each one be a different cup size. I'm sure if you take a stroll through Porno Valley or possibly somewhere in Dubai you might even spot a few early trend-setters."

Dammit! I hate it when that happens. Hopefully, I'll still get credit for having coined the term "tribooblets."

Shit I'm Digging

Lately, I've been into cruising We Heart It. It's a bit like Ffffound, but a little less arty and a little more trendy. I love this shot of Els Pynoo after the show, "I AM NOT A NICE PERSON ANYMORE," and this beautiful B&W collage. Thanks go to Lux for turning me on to it.

Killing the Devil

Reverse Cowgirl pal COOP has written a wonderful paint-blogging rumination on what it's like to try and kill your muse. In this series, COOP struggles with one of his most iconic works, a smoking devil, and reveals the process of what it's like to wrestle with your demons when your demons are real.

"For this most recent painting, I decided to pull together all the elements that I have been working on, and put them to the task of assaulting the thing I have become most known for, the Smoking Devil.

As I said before, he had become something bigger than me, and had developed a life of his own. I wanted to attack the Smoking Devil, break him apart, smash him into atoms, and once again assert my will over the monster I had created."

Quote of the Day: Fiona Dinkelbach

"You are my problem, with your shiny skin and your boho skirts, your straighteners and your issues, $2.99 to shit on my ego is more than I can affort thanks. Fat or thin i’ve got places to be and they are as far away from you as possible. You can blow dry your hair for hours and cry at Disney films, you float about in flowers and tawt on about nothing on your cell phones. You want me to worry about men and feel guilty about sex? Fuck you, I’ve been able to handle men for years it’s women who scare me and it’s your fault because you’ve turned feminism into a war zone, you’ve created a monster and the monster is you." -- Fiona Dinkelbach (via Luxurious Vulgarity)

Photo of the Day: Alison Brady

I came across the work of Alison Brady the other day. I'd seen her work on various sites, but I hadn't seen the image you see here. I love her work--it's surreal, strange, enigmatic. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she's a relatively recent grad of the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Her artist statement is wonderfully visceral. She says her work is about "unconscious emotions, desires, and sexual compulsions," as well as madness, all taken to the level of the beautifully grotesque.

"Freud, in 'Beyond the Pleasure Principle' states, 'Often times we tend to repeat a traumatic event over and over even until it becomes pleasurable.' This repetition contradicts our instinct to seek pleasure but, regardless, our mind has a tendency to repeat traumatic events in order to deal with them, as a way of mastering them."

Click the image above to see a larger version, and thank you to Alison for sending it and letting me publish it.

Start Your Morning Off Right With Le Le's "Breakfast" Video

Cruising the webternets this weekend, I came across this newish animated smut-hop video from Le Le: "Breakfast." Man, this is some good shit! And what a way to start off a day. If you listen to it, you have to promise to get up and dance and shake your booty a bit. Really, it will change your perspective on life. I know it worked for me.

Who's Le Le? (Pronounce it like "the the.") They describe themselves as "French pop / Ghettotech / German pop." I say anybody whose music includes the line "I see you over there, talking to Jean Pierre Le Douche" is number one in my book. The video itself, which I found on Submarine was created by band member Piet Parra who's an amazing visual artist and whose style I love.

In an interview about making the video, Parra said: "And I’m really happy you guys are picking up the video clip for 'Breakfast' because it’s been flagged on youtube. Someone thought it was inappropriate. It’s really very irritating. The same thing happened with our 'Skinny Jeans' video clip. So it seems someone out there does not like us. It’s kind of funny. But whatever, I guess the lyrics are slightly crazy, if someone finds that offensive, well, they are most likely Americans."

Bonus Reverse Cowgirl lifetime points if today you tell your significant other: "Bitch, you breakfast."

Blogs You Should Be Reading: The Daily Siege & The Constant Siege

If you're a regular Reverse Cowgirl reader, you already know Clayton Cubitt, aka Siege, a friend of mine and one of the most talented photographers shooting today. These days, so many artist cave to commercialism and leave us to see the world through their dead, commodified eyes. Not so for Siege, who has turned the act of pushing the envelope artistically into a performance art unto itself.

In a profile, I posited Siege as a shock photographer. And he is that, but more. In recent posts on his Nerve blog, The Daily Seige, worth the surcharge to see his work alone, he will pop your eye out with thisclose shots of hardcore penetration. Now, you can also see how the mind behind the lens works on his Tumblr, The Constant Siege, where what inspires him flashes before you like a peepshow.

Of the supine beauty in red light, he wrote:

"Roughly translated:
'So far so good.
But the important thing is not the fall...
it's the landing.'"

Rollergirls v Starbucks

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer has an interesting story about Seattle-based rollergirl posse Rat City Rollergirls squaring off against uber-chain Starbucks in a logo dispute.

Starbucks says the RCR logo you see here, starring a pin-up style rollergirl with a black-eye and nice boobs, is a bit too much like the iconic Starbucks logo. The rollergirls have been using the logo since '04, but now Starbucks is requesting the RCR logo be changed.

"'The Starbucks lawyer said that the girls on the roller derby team look scary, and she didn't think, in her own personal opinion, (that) Starbucks would want to associate themselves with the scary characters of Rat City Rollergirls,' [the team's lawyer Quinn] Heraty said. 'I just thought it was funny.'"

Starbucks has until July to issue a formal complaint.

Naked Blokes On Post-It Notes

Remember how not long ago I interviewed Chris Gilmour about his year-long project drawing naked chicks on Post-It notes called Naked Chicks on Post-It Notes? I asked him why naked chicks, and he said: "I tried drawing naked blokes, but it made me feel uncomfortable. I'm going to have to work on that in the future." Now, he is. These days, Gilmour's working on Naked Blokes on Post-It Notes. I'm assuming this project will be a year-long one, too. That's a lot of penises.
