Is it just me? Or does anyone else look at this video of Dean Kamen's robotic arms and think about what this application might do for sex work? And, no, I am not even kidding. Occasionally, I babble on here about how the porn industry as we know it is dying, and its replacement will be truly interactive pixelated porn stars. Of course, at some point in this future, another virus will replace HIV as the horror of our sexual future, causing humans to crave the proximity of other bodies that pixelated porn will deny them even as they simultaneously fear contamination from these foreign bodies. Robotics will bridge the gap. I watched this video and imagined one of these robotic arms rendered fleshy, attached to a future sex worker, who wouldn't even have to touch a customer looking for a mechanical happy ending.
